RE: Question for GM and Chevy Truck People

Prefer the looks of GMC. Would buy either if only one were available...reason: Duramax-Allison combination.

RE: Fabric material over slideout

I have repaired a "small" (6inch) tear in ours using awning repair - sail repair tape. Not sure if this would hold well enough to repair the entire length of your awning. Also possible that someone could lap the two edges over one another and sew them, but this would entail removing the awning from your rig. My guess is that it is "bullet bitting time."

RE: blown out faucet

I think you will know more and know for sure when you pressure up the system and use your rig for the first time next spring. But, it is certainly posssible given the nature of the cheap plastic faucets that are standard install in most RV's. Hopefully that is all there is to it.

RE: Komfort Trailblazer Q's

Since we own a Komfort, I guess I should throw in my opinion and experience. I will say, however, that I have no experience with Komfort's Trail Blazer line. We have been very happy with our Komfort. We have also found Komfort Corp. to be very responsive when we contacted them or if we needed any work done on our rig. If I were in the market for a new trailer, I would definately look at another Komfort. Stu, if you send me a private message, I will give you info on the dealer we used here in WA.

RE: Where do you invest your money?

I do a lot of on line investing for a 90 year old relative..all CD's and an on line savings account. The relative is living in a nursing home. I simply give my physical address and have never been asked to prove it with any documentation... I can't see why you can't do the same with one of your children. How do they know you are not living with them?

Never stayed there, but here are some independent reviews. Hope this helps at least a little. Holloway - Big Bear

RE: Opinions on front window option

Like some others we really like the front window. One of our previous trailers didn't have one. We had the dealer install it after we bought and discovered that we hated how it felt without one. It came as a unit with a rock guard and matching curtains/blinds inside. I had the dealer put an adendum on our warranty that would cover this modification. It never leaked a drop and really eliminated that "claustrophic" feeling in the front bed room. Here is what it looked like. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t280/oilchange/trailersilverfalls.jpg

RE: confused about WD hitches.

The "belt and suspenders" type personalities and card carrying weight police will tell you that you MUST use a WDH....not true. We are talking about an 8K trailer here! Once in a while, just once in a while the "belt and suspenders" type card carrying weight police might have some good advice. But, as they say, "your results may differ."

RE: confused about WD hitches.

Alan, Quick answer..Yes, get a weight distribution hitch and I strongly recommend one with some kind of integrated sway control (Reece Dual Cam or Equil-i-zer brand). I would almost be certain that in CA, all diesel that you would be buying is ULSD. Enjoy your new truck.

RE: HELP!! New Rockwood 8317ss leaks! First trip out!

First of all, Welcome to the Forum. You have gotten much good advice and many good suggestions from the previous posters. Regardless of where the water is coming from or how it is getting in, IT NEEDS TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER. Let them find it and fix it. Sorry to hear about your problems. Getting a new trailer is suppose to be fun. No one needs this kind of aggravation. Good luck with it and please post when you determine the cause.

RE: Had it up to here with irresponsible dog owners

I really want to get even with some of the noncaring, sneaky, low life owners who will not take the time or effort to pick up after Rover. Now, I feel better. Nothing like venting. Another dog owner who has more than once stepped in someone else's dog stuff. I completely agree with you. Please be aware, however, that our dog is not named ROVER. We always pick up so I promise you it wasn't ours.

RE: Chevy 1500 or 2500

First, WELCOME TO THE FORUM. This is a good question.. and a hard call. I will say that the new 1/2 ton trucks certainly are boasting some impresssive towing numbers. Short/long box..wow, that's another tough one. We got the standard bed because it fits in our garage. If I could have fit a long bed in, I probably would have gotten one, but leaving a $40K + vehicle on the street in the weather was not an option for us. Keep in the back of your mind that you may soon decide to get a bigger trailer..turst me, it happens. Good luck with your decision

RE: Battery

Not having seen your battery, I'd guess that when the dealer used the term "closed" battery he was probably referring to a sealed or maintenance free battery... Similar to this. http://www.overland.co.za/Dual_Battery/deltec.jpg

RE: Is there an easy way to check for recalls?

Don't know if this will help you at all, but you might want to poke around and see what you can find. NHTSA Recalls

RE: Why have rules?

We have found that pretty much....rules are only for the rule followers. Just like locks are only there for the honest people.

RE: Water Heater Off or On

When we are using our trailer, the water heater is always ON....electric if we have hook-ups. Anode rod (I don't think) is affected either way - on or off.
